Still early on in his pro career, Taylor Cooper is showing signs of the form that will lead to big success down the track. Some sub 70 rounds in PNG at the two events there have helped Taylor finish in the money in consecutive weeks. Taylor and Jason Pavese missed the cut at the Luxehills event in April and look forward to the events coming up. 24 April - Canberra Right-Siders in the placings at Drummond Golf Day ACT
Congratulations to Lyndsay Gilbank (2nd place) and Robert Maxwell (3rd place) at the Drummond Golf Day held at Gold Creek. The boys are good mates and very competitive with each other. First event back after the New Year break, Gavin Coles shot 3 under the final day to climb into the top 10. A good start to the year. Paul Gow also made the cut and finished middle of the pack. Hopefully Paul can have a better 2010, we wish him well. A gaggle of right-siders will line up in the Moonah Classic this week. Good luck!
31 January 2010 - Rebecca Flood finishes well in Actew Royal Canberra Classic
After a sluggish start to the event, Rebecca overcame some average ballstriking the first two rounds to shoot 3 under the final day, finishing 2 over for the tournament - T32nd. It's worth noting her final round consisted of excellent shotmaking and if the putter got hot, it easily could have been 6-7 shots better!
Another feature of the event for Rebecca was to make the most of a tournament when her form wasn't great. After struggling somewhat, Bec was able to get by the first two days before turning it around the final day. This example displays her consistency and readiness for an excellent 2010.
29 January 2010 - Aaron Deans drops 12 shots from hcp in 12 mths
Canberra based golfer Aaron Deans has had an excellent 2009. Over the year, he has worked on his game and managed to drop 12 shots off his hcp. I am delighted to announce the support from Don Rowling and his company, the AC and R Group, who will be helping me get to events in 2010. AC and R is a fantastic Canberra based business supplying commercial kitchens to many businesses in Canberra and surrounds. Visit the sponsor page for all background info. It is a big moment for me earning a tour card and I am extremely grateful for Don's support. Looking forward to kicking some goals in 2010.
21 Dec 2009 - Rebecca Flood earns playing rights on Ladies European Tour 2010.
Rebecca Flood battled through the 7 round qualifying of first and second stage in less than perfect conditions in Spain. Round three of final stage was suspended due to snow. After a first round 76 she fought back in rounds two and three and made the final 54 hole cut giving her exemption status in category 10a. She was four under par the final day and inside the top 30 with four holes to play but a costly four putt on no 16 bumped her out of a full exemption for 2010. She will most likely get starts in the Australian and New Zealand tournaments early in the season and may be able to take advantage of the two re-ranks during the season. She also has a full card on the Duramed futures tour so may also play some tournaments in America. Congratulations Bec on a great effort !!!
18 Dec 2009 - Congratulations Brad Lamb!
Brad finished 9th at Tour School and maintains his status for the 2010 PGA Australasia season. Brad is in good form and we wish him well in 2010 as he juggles coaching and playing duties. It is an absolute delight to watch him on the practice tee.... Good luck for 2010!
18 Dec 2009 - Jason Pavese earns Tour Card for 2010
After a good week, I finished T16th to earn playing rights for the 2010 Australasian Tour Season. Three solid opening rounds of 71, 69 and 70 were followed by a one over 73. A kinked neck before the final round proved a hurdle but a T16th finish provides an opening for starts through the 2010 season. I am over the moon with this result and would like to thank Gary Edwin Golf and the team at Drummond Golf Canberra for their support. A special thanks to Peter Krawitz, GEG Senior Instructor, who provided some valuable help after the first round. I missed a bunch of putts and only managed one under on a perfect day. Peter's help set me up to finish off the event well and under tough conditions.
18 Dec 2009 - Taylor Cooper youngest ever Australasian Tour Card holder
Congratulations to Taylor Cooper, 17 years who finished T24th at the final stage of Australasian Tour School. Taylor is the youngest player ever to do so and is a tribute to the hard work and dedication displayed. Team Coops, Taylor and his father James, have been all over the country the last two years and have worked very hard and should be very proud of this achievement. At 17, Taylor is one of our shining prospects and we wish him very well in 2010. I have been lucky enough to spend some time with Team Coops and look forward to tracking their progress in 2010.
13 Dec 2009 - Another good finish for Rod Pampling
A sensational 65 in the final round lifts Rod pampling to another top ten finish. After a sluggish start to the event, Pamps' 65 resulted in a T7th. Great finish for 2009.
6 Dec 2009 - Pampling finishes T7 at Australian Open
A steady weekend with a fabulous 69 on the final day sees Rod Pampling finish T7th. Rod was 5 under through 16 on a tough day before a double-bogey on 17 was followed by a 3-putt par on the par 5 18th. A solid week.
5 Dec 2009 - Peter Hewitt shoots 33 the Back Nine at Yass - Off a 13 hcp!
Yass based right-sided student, Peter Hewitt had the best finish at the Yass open shooting 33 on the back 9, after 43 going out. Off 12.6, Peter has made some significant changes to his pattern and is improving each and every week - even when the score doesn't show. Not content with the 33, Peter was lamenting the 3 putt that cost him a 32!!! We can't help ourselves.... Keep up the good work Pete!
4 Dec 2009 - Jason Pavese and Taylor Cooper through first stage of Australasian Tour Qualifying School
I finished T24th after rounds of 72, 77 and 71 (4 over) and played well without holing too many putts. Taylor Cooper at his first tour school played well all week and finished T34th after an opening 69 put him in a good position. Conditions in rounds one and three were fantastic but round two was almost the most wind I have ever played in. A good week overall.
20 Nov 2009 - Peter Senior Wins US Champions Tour Q-School
Congratulaions to Peter Senior who captured medalist honurs for the 2010 Champions Tour season. Peter's recent form on the European Seniors Tour served him well and he finished three shots clear at 17 under. Pete is hitting it better than ever and we're all very excited for 2010.
